Fitbit Mind seamlessly integrates Fitbit's capabilities with Google Calendar to help reduce students' stress levels.
JUMP AHEAD
THE QUICK PITCH

After learning that the data gathered by smart watches can also be used to analyze stress and anxiety levels, we created a new feature for Fitbit. Fitbit Mind reinterprets existing physiological data and comes up with individualized coping mechanisms to help stressed college students.
WHY MENTAL HEALTH?

Mental health is a completely new frontier in the smart watch category despite 87% of adults believing that it's just as important as physical health.

HOW THE FEATURES SOLVE FOR STUDENTS' UNIQUE NEEDS

Revisiting Freshman Year
In order to figure out the needs of college freshman students, it was important to organize all the activities and events that they would come across during college. For our ideation session, we chose to focus on the first semester of freshman year, a time when the most significant amount of stress-inducing events occur.

We then took all the events and categorized them into 5 different categories: Accountability, Social, Acclimation, Internal/Personal, and Academic. By categorizing the events we were able to zoom out a little bit to figure out possible ways to mitigate the stress factors.
Feature Considerations
We came up with many different ways to use Fitbit's existing functions to alleviate stress, as well as brand new features that could be added on to Fitbit using existing technology.
We took the most feasible features
and organized them into three different categories to further narrow down our final idea.
Use Cases
To further validate the need for the six new features we chose to incorporate, we came up with three students with very different, unique stresses and tried to figure our how our new product features could lessen their anxiety.

These three students were the inspiration behind our final user personas.
Onboarding
We thought the simplest way to initially organize all our features would be through a detailed onboarding in Fitbit's existing app. The onboarding process helped us further narrow down the features we wanted to incorporate in our final idea.
